Being underage is never fun – especially not when you’re in Vegas. Trying to get around the laws could land you, and your chosen establishment, in a ton of hot water. So, if you find yourself in Vegas and you’re a minor, you probably shouldn’t be in a casino. Punishments in general depend on the infraction’s scope, and could involve verbal warnings, fines, or in extreme cases suspending an operator’s gambling license

If you DO end up in a casino, please don’t Tweet about it.

MGM Resorts International was under investigation after Marcus Jordan, the underage son of basketball great Michael Jordan, bragged on Twitter about partying at a Las Vegas Strip nightclub.

“Last night was stupid… 35K at Haze,” (at Aria Resort & Casino) the University of Central Florida sophomore guard said. “Totals 50K something the whole day.” The tweet was quickly removed from his feed, but the damage was done.

Jordan told a Fox Sports website last week that the tweet was a mistake and said he had conversations with both his parents about it.

“I didn’t mean it the way it came across,” he said. “My family and friends know the type of person I am.”

Mr. Jordan, if you spent $50,000 on something OTHER than gambling in Las Vegas, we probably need to talk. There are only a few things that money could be spent on, and you’re too young for ALL of them. May I suggest you send that money on up my way if you get the urge to do this again? Cheers.

The camera seems to show roulette, craps, slots, and blackjack, and ignore all other casino games, while ignoring games like baccarat, keno, and video poker, all of which are even more popular than craps. The reason is clear. Visually, it is easy to show a roulette wheel spinning and hitting or missing just the right pocket. It’s easy to show the dice landing just perfectly or exactly wrong. It’s simple to show a slot machine spitting out coins. Since blackjack is well known, it’s not hard to show a blackjack or a bust and have the audience understand exactly what has happened.

In reality, though, craps isn’t nearly as popular as other games. This is probably because craps looks like a very a complicated game. It doesn’t have to be all that complicated, though. If you’re not playing craps, you’re really missing out. If you’re a craps beginner, you can play a simple bet like the pass line bet. It’s an easy bet to play. If the shooter hits seven or eleven on the first roll, you win. Two, three, or twelve is a lose. Any other number becomes the point. Once a point is rolled, the goal is to have it rolled again before the next seven is rolled. Once a point has been called, you can get true odds on additional bets on the point number. This improves your odds by far, so it’s a good idea to take this bet. Take advantage of it to the maximum allowed by the casino and your bankroll.

There seem to be dozens of different types of bets to play in craps. There are boxcars and snake eyes bets. There are single number bets which are for a single roll, and there are single number bets which can be placed on a number being rolled before a seven is rolled. There are also hardway bets, meaning that you wager that the numbers 4,6,8, or 10 will come up as doubles before they come up as another combination on the dice. These seem quite complicated, but you don’t need to play all of these different combinations to enjoy a game of craps. Instead, put your money on the pass line or the don’t pass line and watch the shooter to join the excitement.

Being a professional poker player sounds like an ideal job, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. For some players, being a pro is a lot of fun, but it’s not that way for everyone. If you’ve thought about going pro, there are a lot of things to consider.

First and foremost, you should realize that you can go pro without a lot of money or even too much time. Some of the bigger names in online poker today started out with very modest deposits and worked their way through satellite tournaments.

Second, you’ll need to realize that there is no winning method. A tight-aggressive player will generally do better overall than other players, but playing very tightly and aggressively all the time will earn you a reputation for being a tight-aggressive, meaning that other players will be able to find your bluffs and call them very quickly. To be a great poker player, you’ll have to be constantly evolving and constantly changing your style to fit the situation and the other players, and to keep your opponents guessing.

Another thing to consider is that there are hundreds, if not thousands of hotshots trying to make the big bucks playing poker online. You’ll have to be truly excellent to be good enough to get a leg up on those players. It’s not too hard to make a few bucks in the low limit rooms if you’re a good player, but you won’t be able to make a living taking $1 pots from fish all day. Moreover, eventually, even those players will mark you as a dangerous opponent, and you’ll have a hard time finding a game.

If you really do want to go pro, though, the best way to do it is to hold on to your day job, find a site that you really like, and make a modest deposit. Most poker rooms require you to make a deposit before you can play freerolls, so you’ll need to put something in your account. $50 is a good number to start with. You’ll get some bonus bucks from it, and you’ll have enough to play around some. Play in the lowest stake rooms at first, and play every freeroll you can get into. Some freerolls serve as qualifiers for bigger tournaments, and you could find your way to a real land-based casino, playing at the WSOP even if you never put up a buy-in of more than $10 for a tournament. Moreover, if you’re not winning at freerolls, you’ll know not to risk your own cash.

I mentioned using a betting system called the Martingale. The Martingale system is one of the best known betting systems in the gambling world, and a lot of people use it because when your luck is average and your bankroll doesn’t get wiped out, it builds a bankroll slowly but steadily. The Martingale system is only reasonable to play at a game where there is an even-odds bet that has a low house edge. Most table games fit the bill. If you’re playing baccarat, for example, the punto or banco bet fit the bill, but the tie bet is not a good one. Blackjack presents a little trouble since there are situations in which you raise your bet mid-round, but since it is a favorite game with a low house edge, it’s still a good game to consider.

Another important thing to check is the table’s betting range. To play a Martingale system, you’ll need a very large betting range. By the time you’ve placed seven losing wagers in a row, your wager is over one hundred times what it was when you started. Having to change games and tables will make your casino experience annoying and unpleasant. Online casinos often offer quite a large range, making them better for this type of play.

If you’re looking for a way to win big, there are other systems that can win money faster but are riskier. One system doubles the bet upon winning. The problem with this system should be obvious. If you do it enough times, you will eventually lose. In order to make this a winning system, players will cap their wins at three or four wins in a row and return to their original bet. Another way to play a positive betting system is to add to the bet after every win, but not to double it. For example, if you start with a $10 bet and win, you’d raise the next bet to $15. If you win again, you’d raise your bet to $22.50. You could also increase your wager by $5 increments. In any of these cases, you would be protected from a loss, because you effectively ‘bank’ some of your winnings. Remember that greed is your worst enemy. Banking small earnings help you take advantage of every win instead of being a slave to the variance.

The first is the house edge. The second is human behavior. If the second element can be very carefully controlled for, the power of the first can be lowered substantially. Take this simple example. A slot machine usually has a payout rate of around 98%. Assuming that you’re playing on a machine without a progressive jackpot, if you took $100 and played it through in quarters, keeping the quarters that haven’t been through the machine in one pile and those that have been won in another, you would likely come out with over $90 in your second pile when you finished playing through your cash. You might even come out with $120. The problem is that no one really plays like this. You don’t keep your stakes separate from your winnings. With the new casino cards, you can’t even if you want to. Instead, you re-expose the same cash to the house edge over and over again. There are only two things that are likely to make a player stop playing at a slot machine. Sure, sometimes players run out of time or need to eat or something, but the more likely scenario is one of these two. One is winning a huge jackpot that requires leaving the machine to cash out. The second is losing every single cent. Since winning a huge jackpot is incredibly unlikely, human behavior is such that players are quite likely to leave only when they have lost every cent.

At table games, however, players can do something to control their cash. They can increase and decrease their wagers. Imagine, for example, a game of European roulette. If you bet one of the even-money bets, on average, you’ll win almost half of the time. In games like this, players have tried to design betting systems to guarantee wins. The reality is that mathematics is against them, and even if they can beat the odds, human behavior is likely to thwart them.

The most common betting system is the Martingale. It works very simply. You start out betting the table minimum. For argument’s sake, let’s say that’s $5. If you win, you bet $5 again. If you lose, you increase your bet to $10. If you lose, you double again. If you win, you stick with your $5 bet. If you had an infinite amount of money, you would eventually end up $5 ahead in every case. The problem is that if you hit 9 losing bets in a row, you’ve already lost over $1000. While it’s unlikely, it’s certainly possible.

If you enjoy watching documentaries and love gambling and Vegas, then you definitely need to check out Louis Theroux‘s Gambling in Las Vegas. This is by far one of the best gambling documentaries I have ever seen and it is good to see Louis asking some questions that many others would feel uncomfortable asking to the biggest players in front of the casino staff.

Louis spends several days in Las Vegas following around several players including some of Vegas’ biggest whales. From luxurious high roller suites to gambling what most people make per year in one spin, this documentary has it all.

It can be hard to find out a lot of info about some of the best high roller suites in Vegas, heck most don’t even list these rooms on their websites! Fortunately we have managed to find a few of the best ones out there that are either reserved for high roller players, celebrities and anyone else with a huge bankroll that just has a lot of money to blow.

Best High Roller Suites in Vegas

Number 5:

Lucky 7 Suite

Hard Rock Hotel

One of the ultimate bachelor party rooms in Vegas, the Lucky 7 suite is typically only reserved for the Vegas elite who frequent the Hard Rock on a regular basis. To stay in the room you probably would have to have no problem dropping over $1 Million in their casino on any given night or be extremely well connected. The room comes complete with 3 bedrooms, huge plasmas everywhere, a stripper pole and even a crazy jacuzzi that has a switch to make rain fall from the ceiling! I managed to be fortunate enough to get access to this suite and snapped a few pictures:

Hardwood Suite

Palms Casino Resort

This room is definitely reserved to hang out with the boys, but I am sure any room with a basketball court in it is sure to impress the ladies as well. This ultra luxury room is part of the Sky Villas at the palms and can be rented for $25,000 per night. Other than the basketball court, the room comes complete with a professional score board, locker room, pool table, full bar with lounge and of course the usual plasmas everywhere.

For more information about the Hardwood Suite, check out the palms website.

Chairman Suite

Venetian Hotel

The Chairman Suites cost over 5 Million dollars to build and for $15,000 a night (if approved), you can experience a night of ultimate luxury. Located on floors 34-36, the suites contain 27 plasmas, a karaoke room, beauty salon, spa and gym. You will also have your own personal butler to get you anything your heart desires. These suites are typically only available for celebrities, business moguls and the highest rollers in the casino, but if you are approved you too can experience everything they have to offer.

Hard Rock Penthouse Suite

Hard Rock Hotel

Home to some of the best parties in Vegas, the Hard Rock Suite is one of the best places to bump into celebrities and some of the most attractive girls in Vegas. The room itself comes decked out with everything you need to have a crazy party with a full bar, pool tables, mosaic hot tub and even a bowling alley. I was fortunate enough to attend a party at the Hard Rock Suite and judge a bikini contest while there. Here are some pics from that night:

Hugh Hefner Sky Villa

Palms Casino Resort

What balling hotel suite list wouldn’t be complete with this room! At $40,000/night, the Hugh Hefner Playboy inspired Sky Villa is the most expensive room in Las Vegas. With over 10,000 square feet, an insane infinity pool, a massage room, rotating bed and some of the best views of the entire Vegas Strip, this is the place to stay if money is no object. This room has been featured in many articles of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world and if you check out some of the pics you will understand why!

For more pics and details of this suite, check out the Palms website.

Honerable Mention: The Venetian also contains a “Presidential Suite” but little information is available about this room. The room is reserved for the casino’s biggest whales that gamble an average of 6-8 million dollars per night and over $150,000 per hand.
