MGM Wants To Be Part of A Toronto Casino

mgm-torontoMGM is making a strong push to be involved with opening a casino in Toronto, Canada. Yesterday, along with Cadillac Fairview, MGM launched a website detailing how they could bring an Integrated Resort Complex with Casino to the city of Toronto. The site is designed as an information resource for local residents and covers everything from benefits to potential issues that such a facility could face.

MGM describes an Integrated Resort Complex as the following on their site:

Integrated Resorts include world-class hotel accommodations, meeting and convention facilities, restaurants and bars, and shopping. MGM Resorts International is the recognized global leader in entertainment and hospitality and only develops Integrated Resorts.

When we talk about an Integrated Resort, we mean two things. First, a development with multiple uses that integrates one use with another (for example potentially provides a live, work, play experience) and second, a development that integrates itself into its environment by creating connections: connections to the local community, its businesses and citizens; connections to existing leisure, entertainment and food and beverage facilities; and connections to the aspirations of the city and its policymakers.

The proposed site for the complex would be in Toronto’s Exhibition Place grounds, currently home to the CNE, BMO field and several large convention facilities. They claim this kind of facility would create approximately 10,000 new jobs for the city with an average pay of $60,000.

Toronto council has been contemplating putting a casino in the city for several years now, and this is the first big push from an outside corporation to be brought into the process.

MGM believes a complex of this magnitude would attract 1 million new visitors to the City of Toronto every year. Of these visitors they expect they would spend up to 1 billion dollars on non-gaming activities while in the city.

Could this project become Canada’s very own Las Vegas? Time will tell where this proceeds, but it appears to be moving in the right direction.

Would you visit Toronto’s new casino if it were built as proposed on this site?

I would be so lucky if they went ahead with the plans for a casino in Toronto. I wouldn’t have to travel so far and I got my casinomg.com casino host that treats me and my buddies like kings, I would be absolutely set. I could spend the money I would use to travel out, on the casino and raise my chances of bringing in some real dough.
