Top 10 Casino Movies

Many movies have been made that either take place in a casino, are about casinos, or are just about gambling in general. We have put together a list of what we think are the Top 10 Casino Movies and Gambling Movies of all-time:

Top 10 Gambling Movies

10) Owning Mahowny
(Philip Seymour Hoffman, Minnie Driver, 2003)
Dan Mahowny is a bank manager that has a bit of a problem.  He loves to gamble!  He will bet on anything and everything and will do whatever it takes to get the money, even if that means stealing from the bank where he works.

9) 21
(Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, 2008)
21 is the Hollywood version of the true story about a team of card counters from MIT that took Vegas for millions.  This movie shows all the glamor involved from casinos, but also reveals the nasty dark side that they don’t want you to see.

8) Honeymoon in Vegas
(Nicholas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker, 1992)
Nicholas Cage, a gambler with commitment issues from the past, finally decides to tie the knot in Vegas.  On his way to the alter he runs up a huge gambling debt and is offered a chance to clear the debt in exchange for a night with his fiance.

7) Croupier
(Clive Owen, 1998)
This movie gives a different perspective on the casino world looking through the eyes of a dealer (Owen).  He ends up meeting a women while working at the tables who tries to get him involved in her plan to rob the casino.

6) The Cooler
(William H. Macy, Maria Bello, Alec Baldwin, 2003)
Even though casino’s have the edge, they still use “luck” to their advantage and hire Macy, who plays one of the most unlucky people, to bring his bad luck to the winning players in the casino.  He ends up meeting a lady while working at the casino and his luck starts to change, though the casino does what it needs to ensure that it does not affect his job in the casino.

5) Rounders
(Matt Damon, Edward Norton, 1998)
This movie is the most popular movies for poker players around the world.  It shows the hidden world of underground poker rooms, hustlers and the dangers of these dark worlds.  If you love poker, this movie is a must see!

4) James Bond: Casino Royale
(Daniel Craig, John Cleese, 2006)
Le Cherrife is a bank man connected to several terrorist organizations.  He plans to win money in a poker tournament to help pay back his terrorist partners.  Bond comes in to save the day and brushes up on his poker skills in an attempt to foil Cherrife’s plans.

3) Bugsy
(Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Harvey Keitel, 1991)
Without Bugsy Seigel Las Vegas probably would not exist as we know it today.  This story shows how a gangster from New York builds one of the biggest gambling cities in the world.

2) Oceans Eleven
(George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, 2001)
Based on the 1960’s comedy Rat Pack, Oceans Eleven is the story of how 11 professional criminals work together to try and pull off one of the biggest heists in history.  Their target: 150 Million Dollars in a vault shared by several of the Las Vegas casinos.

1) Casino
(Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone, 1995)
Martin Scorsese tells the story of when the gangsters started to lose their control of Las Vegas.  This is one of the best stories of the hidden world of mob-involvement behind Las Vegas’ bright lights back in the 70’s and 80’s.
