I’ve visited casinos across the world a number of times and I’m so used to the ritual of packing for my trip that I could probably do it blindfolded. Someone asked me the other day if I’d share my list of things I pack before I head off to Las Vegas or Atlantic City so – ladies and gentleman – here is the ultimate casino packing list:
Documentation
This may seem obvious, but you really don’t want to forget your identification documents, including your driver’s license, social security card and so forth. Also, pack emergency identification and stick it in your pocket whenever you hit the bars or casino. If you become intoxicated and/or lost and can’t find your way back to the hotel, someone will be able to call your emergency contact person and lead you to a safe place. Other identification you may want to take with, if relevant, is your players club card, which could earn you lots of benefits and extra perks.
Camera
You don’t want to miss out on those magical moments when you win the jackpot or visit one of the most exciting tourist attractions in the world. Take your favorite apparatus, and don’t forget memory sticks if necessary.
Gambling Strategy Cards and Books
One of the best things you can arm yourself with is knowing the strategy for games of skill such as blackjack or poker. You don’t have to remember all the strategies by heart – it’s enough that you carry around strategy cards and refer to them when you aren’t sure about how to continue in your game. Good reading material on the plane or your hotel room could be gambling books that allow you to refresh your memories about rules and strategies of the games you intend playing at the casino.
Clothes and Accessories
That’s a pretty obvious one and highly individual, but suffice to say that you will want to check out the weather conditions before you travel. It may be hot in Vegas much of the year, but those hotel lobbies and casinos can be pretty cold with the aircon turned up, so don’t forget some form of covering. Comfortable walking shoes are also a must for when you feel like a break from your gambling sessions and want to get in some of the sights.
I’m sure there are lots of other things that need to be remembered, but these are the ones I never leave home without.
